Representative McCormick
called the meeting to order. She noted that the committee was to begin
the evidentiary hearing process at this meeting, However, Representative
Lindsay has requested that the Committee on Legal Services (COLS) retain
counsel to represent her. Ed DeCecco, Office of Legislative Legal Services
(OLLS) explained that the COLS has authorized counsel for Representative
Lindsay and the evidentiary portion of the hearing will be postponed until
counsel can be retained. |
|
01:09:11 PM |
Chair McCormick discussed
setting future committee meeting dates. Christy Chase, OLLS, explained
that there was no deadline by which the evidentiary hearing process must
be completed. Representative Soper commented on rescheduling the hearings
later in the year. Representative Mabrey discussed the timing of the hearings
in relation to the timing of Representative Lindsay's retention of counsel. |
|

Mr. DeCecco noted
that counsel could be engaged relatively quickly, and the committee could
potentially meet toward the end of July or in August. Chair McCormick noted
that that committee could amend its procedures to allow Representative
Lindsay the flexibility to modify her witness list, after she had a chance
to speak with her counsel.
